At Comeval Valve Systems we continue to consolidate our position as a trusted technology partner on large water infrastructure projects. We have recently completed the successful supply of a set of double eccentric butterfly valves for the optimisation of the conveyance systems of a reservoir, an environment where operational safety and absolute control of the water are paramount. For this project we configured equipment in three critical size ranges, supplying units in diameters DN1400, DN1200 and DN700, all adapted to the different flow and pressure needs of the installation.
Critical functions of valves in reservoirs
In large reservoirs, butterfly valves perform functions that are vital to public safety and to making the most of the water resource. This equipment is responsible for precisely regulating the water sent to the distribution channels, controlling the bottom outlets and managing the discharge systems needed to release volume in a controlled way in the event of floods or emergencies. They also act as safety isolation elements, making it possible to section off stretches of pipe to carry out maintenance work on the dam without interrupting the general supply.
Double eccentric technology
Our range of double flanged double eccentric butterfly valves meets these severe demands with full guarantees. Its double eccentric design offsets the axis of rotation with respect to the seat, which drastically reduces friction during opening and closing. This translates into minimum component wear, a stable operating torque over the years and a bidirectional tight shut-off that prevents any leakage under massive water columns.
Maximum safety automation with Bernard actuators
Automating these units is just as critical, since the safety of a reservoir depends on a fast, reliable response. That is why all the equipment has been fitted with Bernard Controls electric actuators. These industrial actuators bring millimetric precision to flow regulation and integrate perfectly with the dam’s centralised control system. The combination of the smooth rotation of our valves with the motor’s controlled torque ensures safe operations, protecting the pipework against water hammer. With this supply, we at COMEVAL reaffirm our commitment to bespoke engineering for safe water management.
