Technical training day

At Comeval Valve Systems we continue to invest in technical training as part of our commitment. With this aim, on 12 March we held a theory and practice day for customers at our premises, focused on training in the use, selection, operation and maintenance of equipment associated with water consumption and distribution.

During the day, those attending were able to take part in various technical sessions and practical demonstrations delivered by specialists from the sector.

Gate valves

The first part of the session was led by our technical director, Javier Galán, who gave a technical explanation of gate valves and their main features. His talk covered aspects such as the resilient seated wedge, quality certificates, protection and paint systems, nominal pressures and the motorisation options available for this type of valve.

Electric actuators

The day then continued with a block devoted to electric actuators, looking at equipment from manufacturers such as Auma and Bernard Controls. This session presented their main technical features, mounting recommendations and some of the recurring problems that can arise when installing or operating these systems, as well as good practice for their maintenance.

CSA air valves

Next came the CSA air valves , where the different models available and their applications were explained. They included traditional air valves, those made of plastic specially designed for wastewater, and solutions adapted to desalination plants.

Workshop visit and hydrostatic test

After the theory sessions, those attending visited the workshop at our premises to see some of our working processes at first hand. During the tour a practical demonstration was also carried out by means of a hydrostatic test on one of our valves, allowing them to observe the control and verification procedures that guarantee the quality and reliability of our equipment.

The impact of the zebra mussel and the Asian clam on irrigation networks

zebra mussel and Asian clam

The day continued in the afternoon with a talk by Manolo Soriano (C.R.Lorca) who explained how invasive species such as the zebra mussel and the Asian clam affect the operation of irrigation networks. His talk looked at the problems they cause in water infrastructure, such as blockages or loss of efficiency in the installations.

Butterfly valves

To close the day, our Water Business Developer, Luca Garofalo, presented the butterfly valve solutions available in our catalogue. His presentation looked at different models, such as the double eccentric butterfly valve, the double flanged butterfly valve and the wafer type butterfly valve, explaining their differences, applications, quality levels, certifications and positioning against other solutions on the market.

Initiatives of this kind reinforce Comeval’s commitment to technical training and to supporting our customers, providing the knowledge needed for the correct selection and operation of equipment in water networks.
